How to defrag your computer
hard driveWhen you install programs your computer scatters
files all over the place. Therefore it needs some organisation and for this we
use the Windows system tool called Disk Defragmenter. This utility examines your
files and places them in areas together, therefore making it easier to access.
It also puts the most frequently used programs in an area for quicker
access.

| To find The Windows Disk Defragmenter
- Go to the Start Menu in the bottom left and
choose all programs
- Then Choose Accessories, then System Tools,
then Disk Defragmenter
- Now you can choose to Analyse your hard
drive disk to see if it needs defragging.
- If it does need it then press the Defrag
button.
- When finished, Windows will give you a
report.

Above is a Screenshot of my computers Disk
Defragmenter. My computers hard drive did not need to be defragged as I have already done it
this week.

NOTES:
- The longer you do not perform a disk defrag
the worse it gets, which slows your computer down.
- When you do defrag your hard drive disk the worse it
is, the longer it takes to defrag.
- Also if you have a large hard drive with a
lot of information it takes longer to defrag your computer.
- You should defrag your computer hard drive at least once a week to
keep your system running smoothly. This may also help prevent errors.
