Perform a disk cleanup to delete unwanted or junk files from your computer

If you have Windows XP installed as an operating system it comes with its own system tools. One of the Windows tools is disk cleanup. It will help you keep your computer clean by removing unwanted or junk files from your computer. It will remove such files as temporary files, the recycle bin, compressed old files, offline WebPages, and downloaded program files.

 

How to use disk cleanup to delete files from your computer.disk cleanup

  1. Go to the start menu and choose My computer from the menu

  2. Right click on C: drive and a menu will appear

  3. Choose properties from the menu

  4. Make sure you are on the general tab. Press on the button that says Disk cleanup

  5. Now a list of files will appear. Put a tick next to the box if you want to delete the files

  6. Press ok

Notes:

  • You can also select each file in the list and click on the view button below to see the actual files you are about to delete. For example if you make the recycle bin blue then press on the view button it will show you what files are in the recycle bin.
