Viewing Your IP Address Information - Tips4pc.com offers free computer help

Go to the Start menu / Choose Run / Then type cmd (Which would give you a command prompt)
Type this: IPCONFIG /ALL
This will give you your information.

If you want to save the info to a text file type this: IPCONFIG /ALL > c:\myip.txt

This will store the information in a text file on C drive. You can name the file anything you like.

Or This:

Go to Start menu/Control Panel / Network Connections / Double click the icon for your network (If the network has an icon in the system tray you can also just double click on that icon)
Click on the Support tab
Click on the Details button

NOTES:

A static IP address is when the numbers are randomly selected each time you connect to your home network, however I like to choose my own so I can connect to it from other computers on the network. Here is what my settings look like:

I chose to make my IP Address 10.0.0.1 and you can make your subnet mask the same as mine. The default gateway is my Modems IP Address. I found the modems Ip Address in the manual it came with.
