What should you have a home computer network?

By Mitz

Free computer Education

I know we all survived quite nicely in the past, without a home network, and even only one computer per household. However now days, most households have more than one computer and in this case, why not setup a home computer network.

Here are some benefits of having a home network

Share a printer between your computers on your home network. This means that you only have to have the one printer connected to a main computer. The other computers access the printer through the network. See How to add a network printer.

Store files on one computer You can store a copy of all files on one main computer on your home network. This will save precious space on your other computers. You will only have to backup one main computer.

Share an internet connection This is by far the best benefit of a home network. All you need is a modem and a router to share the internet connection will any computer in your house. Even better if you have a wireless router, therefore having no cords and cables to deal with.

Multi-player games If you haven't tried it, you should. Playing a game against your family or friends on your home network can be a real thrill. There are so many games out there that are LAN compatible, you are sure to find one you like.

Just think....You will not have to copy a file onto a disc, floppy, or usb flash drive, to transfer files from one computer to another.
