How to create your own picture slideshow screensaver with windows XP

By Mitz

Windows always has so many features, there is no way to know about them all, but  of course I try to find them. Here is one that can personalize the whole feel of your computer.

When you leave your computer unattended a screensaver usually pops up. Not only does this save your screen from dying, but it stops other people from viewing what you had on the screen at the time. I will show you how to change your screen saver, but with a twist.

If you already store your pictures in the My Picture folder on your computer, it will be easy to create a screensaver slideshow.

Slideshow screensaver

To enable the Windows slideshow screensaver

  1. Right click on the empty screen which is the desktop. This will open the Display Properties box.
  2. Choose the Screensaver Tab from the top menu
  3. In the drop down menu, choose My Picture Slideshow
  4. Click on Preview to see what it is going to look like.. If there are pictures that you do not like move them out
  5. Press Apply, then OK

There is a downside to this slideshow. It shows any picture randomly that is in the My Pictures folder. I had to move my Ebay pictures out of this folder to stop them from showing, even though they were in their own sub-folder.

Notes:

  • It great to have an unpredictable slideshow screensaver but make sure you have checked out what comes up before letting other people view it.
