Can you make money with Google Adsense

By Mitz

Free computer Education

This is the big question on everyone's lips. Can you really make money by putting Google Adsense on your web site or are all those success stories just a myth? Well some people have made huge amounts of money from placing Google's targeted ads on their web page, but it is still a lot of hard work. This biggest myth may be that making money with Google Adsense is easy.

Yes you will make money if you invest a lot of time and effort into optimizing and positioning your ads.

Factors that will help make money from Adsense

  1. Interesting and original content.

  2. Website SEO for High rankings in the search engines.

  3. Paid advertising to get traffic to your site. Not always necessary if you are good at SEO.

  4. Placing your ads in strategic positions.

  5. Formatting the colour, size and background of your ads.

Interesting and original content. Obviously the more information you have the more traffic you attract. Having great content will also encourage repeat visitors. People do not want to return to a website that provided no value to them.

High rankings in the search engines. Every webmaster strives to crawl up the ranking ladder. Again the higher the rank, generally the more traffic you get.

Paid advertising to get traffic to your site. This is a great way to get traffic to your site, regardless of what is actually there. You could even have a site that said BLA BLA BLA on every page and still get traffic because you are paying for it. You could also use your Google Adsense earnings to pay for Adwords. However you obviously must make sure that you earn more than you spend..

Placing your ads in strategic positions. There are different views on where the best place is to put ads, however I think that it really depends on a number of factors. What type of content is on the page? Is it interesting or just there to attract clicks?

Formatting the colour, size and background of your ads. The best way is to experiment with different colours and formats until you come across a working formula. Most people say it is best to have text ads that have no background, or the same as your webpage, and no border either. This way they blend with your content, letting people sometimes presume it is part of the information you provide.

Definitely DO NOT

  • Do not break the Google Adsense Rules (Get familiar with them) If you are caught breaking the rules, Google will expel you from the Adsense program and will not allow you back in.

  • Do not click on your own ads and don't ask others to click on them either. This is an obvious one. Why would they pay anyone to click on their own website ads.. DERRR!

  • Do not change the Adsense code  If you want to be paid for people clicking on the Google ads, you should not alter the html code of the ad provided. You may interfere or even stop the tracking of clicks on your ad and therefore loose money.

  • Do not have a page full of ads and no content. Visitors will leave and Google will not know what ads to place on your page. Google Adsense would have to basically guess what ads to place on your webpage.

  • Do not let your ads out weigh your page content. Even though a page may have great content, if you have to search through the ads to find the content, it will not work.

  • Beware of all the gimmicks out there claiming to help you make money from Google Ads. All you have to do is sign up, get the html for a particular ad, and place it into your web site. When people start clicking on your ads, Google will track everything for you. All you have to do is watch your dollars accumulate.

Adsense has changed the basic structure and purpose of a webpage. It has allowed people to provide information to its visitors at no cost to them. In the early days of websites, you had to be actually selling something in order to make money. Google Adsense has become a great way to earn some extra cash and is very easy to add to your website.

In the end, the success of your website, and how much money you make, depends on how much traffic you can attract there. If you think it is a long haul to that first $100 payout, well your are right! But don't give up because if you do make that $100, you struggled that far and you may as well keep going. It would have taken me about a year to get to that $100 mark with one webpage. After that it kept increasing slowly until I finally received a regular monthly income... $100  a month used to sound good to me, however now my goal is $1,000 a month!!!
