Can someone tell me about Wordpress?

I have heard and read a few things about Wordpress and wondered if they were true? Can people hack into your site and edit things? Can you put google adsense into a Wordpress website? Is it easy to edit the Html? Can you edit a wordpress theme or template when it is hosted at wordpress for free?

If anyone has any experience I would be very interested. Thank you.

I have tried a Wordpress website hosted free at wordpress and it was easy and it had great templates. I really loved it until I realised how difficult it was to put adsense into your website. Then it was not worth it for me.

Also I have heard that it is easy to hack into because all the files for the website are stored in the same folder for every worpress template. wp-content wp-admin or something like this.
