I was on the computer the other day and the screen suddenly went black. There was no noise or anything. I turned the computer off and back on and the most it would do is bring up the computer logo and then go back to black. My brother-in-law worked with it and tried to reinstall the original discs. After a few times it won't even bring up the computer logo. Any suggestions? The computer is 2-3 years old and I'm hoping it can be something simple. I went ahead and bought another computer, but I'd still like to get this one working again. Thanks!

There could be any number of causes for this problem, however now that you have no logo screen or cursor that is not good news..

Try reading this article for a few ideas.. Computer has a black screen

You could also try using another harddrive because the boot sector may be corrupted on yours now.

If you can format the computer then it could be a software problem, which is good.. If you can't even format then it could be a hardware problem which is bad because then you have to find which part is faulty.

If you can format the computer your laughing.. Sometimes it takes a few goes to get it right after really bad errors.
